(2024.12.23) Cross-cultural Understanding Class at Omori Elementary School
On December 19, two students from our Japanese language class “Ribbon” attended a cross-cultural understanding class at Omori Elementary School as instructors. Participants in the class were children in the 3rd and 4th grades.
Since Christmas and New Year's holidays were coming soon, the two students showed slides and introduced Christmas customs and ways of spending Christmas time in their home countries, the Philippines and Mexico, respectively. The children looked intently at the pictures of how different Christmas is from Japan, and after the lecture, some of them raised their hands to ask questions to the lecturer. It was impressive to hear one of the students say that he was surprised at how quiet the New Year's Eve celebration was in Japan, as both countries have very lively New Year's celebrations with fireworks.
Although the exchange was short, we hope that it will be an opportunity for the children to deepen their interest in different cultures.
(2024.12.02) November Friendship Cafe Held
At the November 28 Friendship Cafe, Ms. Marisol Villegas, instructor of our Spanish language class, gave a lecture titled “Mexican Culture and World Heritage”.
The nearly 30 participants listened attentively to her lecture as she introduced not only Mexico's culture and world heritage, but also its history and language with interesting stories.
After the lecture, all participants enjoyed a commemorative photo and a moment of friendly conversation with Ms. Villegas,
